Cai Quirk (they/them or other neutral pronouns) is a genderqueer/fluid multi-disciplinary artist who connects gender, mythology, storytelling, and nature-based spirituality through photos, poems, stories, installations, and workshops.

ARTIST: Cai’s projects include “Transcendence: Queer Restoryation” (artist book with Skylark Editions), “Beyond Pink and Blue,” “Map of Genderland,” and “Queer Temple.” Cai’s work has been exhibited in fourteen states and four countries and is included in collections in 35 states, and they have given hundreds of talks and workshops across the country. They hold bachelor’s degrees in photography and bassoon performance from Indiana University.

QUAKER: Cai is a lifelong Quaker with passions for integrity, discernment, and diverse methods of spiritual deepening. They currently serve Friends General Conference in the role of Spiritual Deepening Program Associate. Cai was the Minnie Jane Artist in Residence at Pendle Hill in 2022.

MUSICIAN: Cai is a musician and bassoonist with interests in spiritual, folk, chant, Latin American, and modern classical music. They began playing the bassoon at age nine, and graduated from the Interlochen Arts Academy and IU Jacobs School of Music. Visit Cai’s YouTube channel to hear them play.

Cai’s work is an act of queer restoryation, creating new stories and myths in the place of lost or harmful narratives, weaving tales of healing, growth, and connection.
